Civic Clubs and Organizations


Fraternal Order of Eagles Sycamore Aerie No. 1095 is a fraternal, charity-based organization. The group sponsors children's Christmas events, helps needy families, awards scholarships and has numerous social activities. The men's group meets at 6:30 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 403 W. Benson St. Ladies auxiliary meets at 8 p.m. the first and third Wednesday of the month at the same location. American Legion Halker Flege Post 69 is a veterans' organization that fosters patriotism in the community and provides social events for veterans and their families. The group meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month at the Legion Hall, 9000 Reading Road. Write to the group at 9000 Reading Road, Reading, Ohio 45215.

Civil Service Commission Meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:30PM at City Hall.  April meeting will be at 6:30 PM.

Garden Club of Reading meets the third Tuesday of the month at members' homes. The club maintains community planters and flower beds.

Kiwanis Club of Reading is a service organization that meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Sorrento's Restaurant. The group organizes fund-raisers to support community projects. Click on the Kiwanis symbol for additional information.

Reading Church Council is an ecumenical group of representatives from various Reading churches offering programs that give Christian witness to the community. Meetings are at 5 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month, fall through spring, at the Mt. Notre Dame Convent on Columbia Avenue.

Reading Democratic Club promotes Democratic party candidates and issues in Reading. The group meets at 8 p.m. the second Thursday of the month at the Knights of St. John Hall, 423 Pearl St.

Reading Fire Department Inc. is a nonprofit, educational, cooperative effort of the Reading Fire Department. It has an annual turkey raffle the weekend before Thanksgiving. Reading Historical Society promotes the study, enjoyment and preservation of local history and maintains the museum. The group meets 1st Thursday of each month at 7PM at City Hall. Write to the Society at 22 W. Benson St., Reading, Ohio 45215.

Reading Republican Club promotes Republican ideals, candidates and officials and keeps in close contact with elected officials at city, state and national levels. The group meets at 8 p.m. the third Thursday of the month at Jubilee Hall, 400 Pike St.

Reading VFW is a community service and veterans' affairs organization that meets at 8 p.m. the first Wednesday of the month at the Knights of St. John hall on Pearl Street.

Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 10 is a veterans' affairs organization that offers monthly social events for members and their friends and sponsors scholarships for veterans' dependents. St. Vincent DePaul Society of Sts. Peter and Paul Church is a Catholic benevolent society for men and women. The group's main purpose is to provide temporary relief funding for individuals in need.
