Lt. Grau Retires from the Fire Department

A long time Reading Fire Department lieutenant is hanging up his gear for good after four decades of service. Lieutenant Tom Grau is calling it a career today after 42 years of service, which includes 8 years in Lockland and 34 years here in Reading.

Lt. Grau came to work for the Reading Fire Department on December 10, 1984. He began his career as a firefighter/paramedic and was promoted to Lieutenant in 1995.

Lt. Grau has been involved in fire training for a number of years and has trained many firefighters throughout Hamilton County.   Lt. Grau also has been a member of the Hamilton County Urban Search & Rescue team for 20 years and currently serves as a deputy commissioner.

Lt. Grau has served in many roles over the years with the Reading Fire Department. He has been in charge of vehicle maintenance, water supply, fire equipment and has fulfilled numerous other duties.
