Mechanic II Test Notification

 

 

The City of Reading, Ohio Civil Service Commission is testing to create an eligibility list for the full-time position of Mechanic Class II with the Reading Public Works Department. A written examination will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the Reading City Hall Council Chambers, 1000 Market Street, Reading, Ohio 45215.  Applications will be available at the City General Offices, on the second floor of the Reading Municipal Building, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Applications must be filed with the City Clerk by Friday January 4, 2019, at 4:00 p.m.  A $10 application fee (cash/check) must be submitted with the application to take examination.  Requests for the additional credit for military service (20% of passing grade), together with a DD-214 form confirming honorable discharge must be submitted at the time of application.   A valid Driver’s License must also be presented on the day of testing to sit for the examination.

Minimum requirements to be eligible for the position include: basic knowledge of auto mechanics(gas and diesel), five(5) years heavy duty equipment maintenance equipment including work on: dump trucks, fire trucks, snow equipment, backhoes, etc. Small equipment repair, hydraulics, and safety practices.  Demonstrate an ability to operate automobiles, operate hand-held power tools.

CDL Class B License is required(must be attained within 6 months of appointment).

Starting pay for the position is $53,747.20 annually. An excellent benefits package is provided including health, dental and eye, paid vacation days, personal days, paid holidays and many other benefits.
