February 2, 2026

On Thursday, January 29, City Council voted to place a Bond Issue and Tax Levy on the May ballot. The purpose of this issue is to fund needed capital improvements for the City.

The maximum annual cost to homeowners for these improvements is $206 per $100,000 of Auditor Value. This amount will not exceed this figure and may be less if project costs come in below current estimates.

If approved by the community, approximately 75% of the borrowed funds will be used to construct a new fire station and administration offices, as well as to make renovations at City Hall. These renovations will allow the Police Department to expand into the space currently used by the Fire Department, administration, and tax offices.

The remaining 25% of the funds will be used to:
  • Replace the grass fields at the stadium and Bemmes Field with turf
  • Replace the track, which currently has numerous cracks and tripping hazards
  • Make minor stadium renovations, including:
  • ADA-accessible restrooms and seating areas
  • Repairs to ongoing water leaks
  • Replacement of fountains, toilets, and other fixtures that have not been updated since the stadium opened
The primary purpose of these improvements is to increase recreational opportunities. Currently, the main field is only permitted for use for just under three months each year. With these improvements, the fields could be used year-round by children of all ages.

We understand that residents may have questions and are committed to providing accurate and transparent information. To support this effort, the City will be hosting several information sessions and tours of community facilities, including the Police Station, Fire Station, and stadium. Details on dates and times can be found on the second page.

If you are unable to attend one of these sessions or tours and have questions, please contact:
