Staff & Contact Bio: Chief Kaiser

Chief Kaiser began his service with the Reading Fire Department in 1975 as a charter member of the Reading Fire Department’s Explorer Program, Post 141.  Upon graduating from Moeller High School and becoming eligible, Chief Kaiser was appointed to the fire department as a paid-on-call member (January, 1978).

Chief Kaiser was appointed a career position on the department in June 1979, after earning his paramedic certification.  In 1995, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, serving as a shift supervisor and managing the EMS Division of the department.  In 1996, Chief Kaiser was promoted to Assistant Fire Chief, overseeing fire prevention, training, and EMS quality assurance.  Chief Kaiser was appointed Fire Chief on January 17, 2000.

Chief Kaiser is also an Ohio certified Firefighter I/II, Fire Safety Inspector, Fire Service Instructor, Hazardous Material Technician, and has studied at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio Fire Academy, and the National Fire Academy.  Chief Kaiser is an instructor for the Great Oaks Institute of Technology and Career Development, teaching in the Public Safety Services Programs.

Chief Kaiser currently serves as the immediate Past President for the Hamilton County Fire Chiefs Association and is the current Chairman of the Training Committee.  The Chief is also affiliated with the Ohio Fire Chiefs Association, the International Fire Chiefs Association, and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).  He has served on many committees including the Regional Medical Response System, the Hamilton County Local Emergency Planning Committee, the Hamilton County Emergency Management Agency Executive Committee, the Hamilton County Arson Task Force, and the Rohm and Haas Community Advisory Council.  Chief Kaiser is also a member of the Southwest Ohio, Regional Incident Management Assistance Team.  Chief Kaiser has also served on committees supporting local events such as Relay for Life and the Neighbor to Neighbor Community Picnic.

Chief Kaiser has been married to his wife Lauree for 30 years and has two daughters (Katie and Kelly), both having careers in education.
